For us, this is a calling, not just a job. We want to make a difference in someone’s life. We are here to do what we can to give developmentally disabled persons a life they might have only dreamed of. There will be challenges. There will be celebrations! Through it all we will be there to support you. Before you ever set foot in a individuals apartment you will receive 75 hours of training. What challenges? You will be yelled at sometimes. Some of our folks are non-verbal. Some are confined to a wheelchair. Some also have mental health disorders, such as bipolar, schizophrenia, or depression. We have direct care staff who have worked with us for 5, 10, 20, 25, almost 30 years. Why do they stay? Two reasons: love of the individuals and management support. You will develop a real friendship with these individuals while you help them create the life they want.
